When is Mango Season in Australia?

Mango is in season in spring and summer in Australia. Different varieties are available almost monthly during mango season. Finding mango outside of the Australian mango season is difficult as only about 1% of our annual consumption is imported.

Most commercial mango orchards are started by grafting although Kensington Pride and R2E2 can be successful from seed. Grafted trees produce within 3 years after planting and peak after about 6 to 8 years. Mango trees can be long lived, with some trees in India supposedly still producing fruit after 300 years. In Australia there are stories of 100 year old mango trees, but commercial productivity is more likely to be less than 40 years.
